With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant families are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure.  The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-related expenses.  In Medford, volunteers are raising funds for COTA in honor of transplant patients like local girl, Helen Lynn.

Born on May 08, 2011, Helen was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease September 2013.  The doctors at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon, have recommended a life-saving kidney transplant.  An estimated $75,000 is being raised by Medford volunteers. After 2 years of waiting and hoping, Helen finally has her new kidney. Transplanted October 2015 by doctors at Doernbecher Childresn's Hospital, in Portland, OR, Helen can started a new and healthier chapter of her life. Since her surgery, Helen has grown 2 inches and gained 10 pounds!!
